People who work deserve respect, regardless of whether they are paid for their work. For many, this is coming into greater focus as they stay at home during the pandemic. Our economy undervalues the work people do to manage their homes and their families. Perhaps a first step towards changing that is to change our language and stop reinforcing the idea that work is only worthy of respect if it earns money. Household work is real work.
